FOOTBALL
THIS MESSAGE IS FOR ANY CURRENT 6th GRADERS INTERESTED IN PLAYING MIDDLE SCHOOL FOOTBALL NEXT FALL:
6th graders (next year’s 7th graders) will be invited to join Spring football workouts starting on Tuesday, May 6th. Here are some reminders for all students who plan to attend lifting sessions:
- We will workout on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school @ Orefield MS until 4:10pm. Springhouse students will leave school according to the announcement to take the shuttle bus (located outside cafeteria entrance) over to OMS. Please see SMS Assistant Principal Mrs. Abdelaal if you have any questions about when/where to pick up the bus to OMS.
- Players should plan on getting picked up at Orefield Middle School at 4:15pm. If a player does not have a ride, they will take the activity bus at 4:20pm from OMS to Parkland HS where they will board a new bus to go home.
- PACK A HEALTHY SNACK (sandwich, protein bar, fruit, etc.) and BRING YOUR OWN WATER BOTTLE
- PACK SNEAKERS- YOU MAY NOT WORK OUT IN CROCS, SLIDES, or SANDALS.
- WE WILL BE OUTSIDE WHEN POSSIBLE- PACK A LONGSLEEVE for cooler days
Attendance at our sessions is voluntary, but it is encouraged for players not involved in a Spring activity. Players who are in-season with another Parkland School District sport should focus on that sport. We look forward to seeing those individuals when their Spring season is over. These sessions are a great opportunity to train with future teammates, improve individual strength and conditioning, and become familiar with individual and team football concepts at the middle school level.
If you have any questions you can either message me through Schoology or send me an email at lesselj@parklandsd.net.

TRANSPORTATION
LATE ACTIVITY BUS
The Late Activity Bus leaves Orefield promptly at 4:20. This shuttle bus takes students to Parkland High School, where the students board the appropriate Late Activity Bus depending on their address. This bus leaves the high school at 4:35 and may have high school students on it as well. BUS PASSES WILL ONLY BE ISSUED FOR EMERGENCY SITUATIONS THIS YEAR!
LATE ARRIVALS AND EARLY PICK-UPS
PARENT DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP
Parent drop-off/pick-up is located at the auditorium entrance on the south side of the building, facing Burger King. Enter parent drop-off/pick-up from the rear of the building using Stadium Road. Students are required to be in homeroom by 7:45 to be marked present.
After 7:45 students must enter the building through the main entrance and sign in at the main office.
Forgotten Gym Bags – Due to the large number of students who forget their gym clothing, it is your responsibility to check the vestibule for your gym bag before your class begins.
- If you are going to SMS or PHS it is your responsibility to let your last teacher know that you need to be dismissed at 2:30 so you can catch the 2:38 shuttle bus to SMS/PHS. This is bus #18 and will be located in front of the field house.
- If you are going to PHS and you miss the above bus you may take the second bus which will take you directly to PHS. That will be bus #133. However, this is only to be used if you miss the above bus. Students should not purposely hang around or intentionally be dismissed late to take the second bus.
- IMPORTANT: All students must report to the main office to sign in when coming to school late and all students must report to the main office to sign out when being picked up early from school for appointments.
- STUDENTS: Please be aware that you are not allowed in the building (using the auditorium entrance) prior to 7:30. In the unfortunate case that you must be dropped off earlier than 7:15, you should be dropped off at the main entrance and must wait in the vestibule until the doors open at 7:30
