NJHS

The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is an organization that recognizes not only academic achievement but other characteristics essential to citizens in a democracy.

ELIGIBILITY

The National Junior Honor Society membership is for eighth-grade students only. Students earn eligibility to become members based on their six & seventh-grade academic years. The following description of the requirements:

Eligible students will be invited to apply for membership in the National Junior Honor Society during the fall of the 8th-grade year. In order to be eligible, students must have attended Orefield Middle School for at least one semester during the previous school year and have earned a 4.0 GPA. Students who are eligible based on their academic performance will be invited to apply by documenting participation in extracurricular activities, community service, and leadership experiences. Decisions of the faculty panel will be final. Students who are selected for membership will be inducted into the organization in the fall. Members of the National Junior Honor Society will be expected to maintain their academic standing, while also committing to participate in service projects during the school year.
